Book discusses the coming of rain in the dessert. Typically the rains come during certain months of the year, and the author discusses what happens in the dessert with wildlife, plants, people and the water cycle. Book is done wonderfully in both English and Spanish and talks about Mexican origin of Dia De San Juan, where people celebrate the rain and throw, play water on this holiday. The illustrations are great! Vocab, science process, translations and word bank in the back of book.
The artwork in this book is outstanding and it is very informational. Personally, I did not know that Monsoon day existed and I think that as residents of Arizona that is something we should all familiarize ourselves with. This book could be used as part of a text-set on seasons and integrate it into summer or it could even be in a text-set about the desert (i.e. could be paired with The Seed and The Giant Saguaro). It also holds great educational value because it is bilingual and the story is told simultaneously in English and Spanish.
A book about moonsoons and the process of what happens before, during, and after a monsoon. Beautiful illustrations
