My Thoughts:

From the book description this sounded like exactly my kind of book but it turned out that it was an just "okay". If not for the disappearance of the baby it more show more than likely would have dropped another star. Some of the things that happened just didn't seem to be like something you would do in real life. For example as the main Amish female character never reported or told anyone right away her baby was missing and replaced with another child. It was just didn't come across as viable for me. While Karen Harper obviously admires and respects the Amish, it doesn't seem that she really understands the depth of their retreat from the modern world. Hence, this novel, while interesting, gets her Amish characters involved in situations they could never comprehend let alone get involved in. show less
I'd read the first, but not the second, in this trilogy but I don't really feel like I missed much. The book was quite good. I would read more with these characters. I'd like to know how things turned out when life returned to normal.
