Hairy, Scary, Ordinary is about adjectives. It explains what an adjective is. Then it gives examples in a very funny and rhyming way. It talks about describing words like leaky squeaky, ancient, new, easy, breezy, broken, and blue.

I really like this book. The words flow off the page, so it makes it a fun book to read. I think that children of all ages will be able to read this book with excitement. I love the descriptiveness of the book.

In a classroom, you could have the children take there favorite book and see how many of the adjectives they could find in the book. You could also make a list of all those words and see how big of a chart the kids can make. Making it into a game will get them more excited as well.
This book starts off with a simple definition of what an adjective is, and elaborates throughout the text to create a complete understanding of the term. Cleary and the illustrator of this book- Prosmitsky- create a fluent text which could help kids learn about adjectives. The illustrations on the page always correspond with the actual text. It is a playful text that will get kids interested in learning about adjectives.
This is the perfect book to introduce students to adjectives!! I think every students would enjoy this silly poem about adjectives and it would really help them to understand the concept. A great follow-up activity would be to have students make up their own adjective poem and read it aloud in class. This book is so creative and the pictures are very well done!

Same as the other texts in this series, it does what it's intended to very well and I liked it for that.
This book would be great to have while teaching an english class. The book gives the definition of an adjective and then continues to adjectives through out the whole book in fun, silly ways.It uses rhyming and adjectives showing two aspects of english language. The adjectives are always in a different color then the rest of the text making them easy to identify. I think the rhyming and silliness of this book is great for students because reading it is fun and easy.
Cleary is at it again providing mentor texts, this time the subject is adjectives. Students, primarily K-2, will enjoy learning through this informational book.
I allowed kids to read this book with a learning center about adjectives. It is a cute, humorous book about adjectives. It makes learning fun for the kids and they enjoyed reading it.
