A conglomeration of nearly 200 historic photos of Chicago from the 1850s, through the 1871 Chicago fire, early 1900s labor unrest, into the Great Depression. After about 1929 the photographs are sparse (I'd rather have stopped at 1929). Many of the photos I haven't seen before and, to anyone with an interest in early Chicago, are of considerable interest. Short text accompanies the photos.
The author/compiler is the Executive Vice President and Chief Historian of the Chicago History Museum. The Museum, by the way, is well worth a visit if you live or lived in Chicago or you are visiting.
