Twelve-year-old Britney has a cousin called Ethan who is going to stay with Britney's family for a few weeks. Britney isn't looking forward to Ethan's visit at all, she never liked him, he is very naughty and weird. When Ethan arrives he has a strange looking ventriloquist dummy with him. Ethan is very good at making the dummy talk, Britney can never even see Ethan's lips moving. It seems that Ethan's dummy (named Mr. Badboy, a.k.a. Slappy) is alive, evil, and really doesn't like Britney at all.

This was a really entertaining and easy to read kids book. It was funny at times but it also had some chilling moments. The characters were interesting. At the end of the book there was also a short story ("Enter Horrorland") with Britney show more receiving an invitation to bring her family and friend Molly to the scary Horrorland Theme Park. (And what a crazy and creepy park it was! )

This was a fast and fun read for children that adults can also enjoy!

Britney Crosby’s summer takes a terrifying turn when her cousin Ethan traps her with Slappy—a sinister ventriloquist’s dummy with its own wicked plans. From haunted puppetry to a suspenseful scream‑park adventure, Revenge of the Living Dummy delivers thrilling chills, clever twists, and classic Goosebumps-style horror. Packed with eerie surprises and unsettling atmosphere, it’s a gripping start to the HorrorLand spin‑off.
As one would expect with a Goosebumps book, this is a fun MG thriller with an abrupt ending, but I was confused about the whole HorrorLand part, and why Ethan was not in it.
I have always been a Goosebumps fan, but I only recently discovered the Horrorland series. Each book has a (very) creepy story involving children, followed by a chapter of the Horrorland tale. Each book brings further clarity to the Horrorland section, leaving the reader craving more. Unfortunately, I only have the first eight, so I am in limbo as to what will happen. I cannot wait to obtain the remainder of this thrilling series!
Britney Crosby acha o primo Ethan muito insuportável, ainda mais depois que ele começou a atormentá-la com um velho boneco de ventríloquo. Mas as travessuras de Ethan não chegam nem perto das maldades que o boneco pode cometer por conta própria.
A bit predictable and kept hinting at what would have been a much more intriguing book (the curio cabinet). Disappointed, but whatever.
The book Revenge of the Living Dummy is about a girl named Brittney, her best friend Molly Molloy, and her annoying cousin Ethan. Ethan has an old ventriloquist dummy named Mr.Badboy. Ethan does mean things to Brittney and blames it on the dummy. Such as tripping her down the stairs or hitting her in the head. But the only person that believes her is Molly. But the dummy was doing a bunch of strange things while Ethan is away.
Mr.Molloy is a researcher for legends and other things from different countries. So, Molly's dad found some research on Mr.Badboy and figures out his name is Slappy. And they figure out that he was doing strange things was because he was under a spell. The only way to turn him back to normal is to say a spell. So show more Brittney says a spell and he doesn't turn back. She figures out that the dummy wasn't under a spell, Ethan had a remote to make him do those things. But now Brittney is Slappy's slave because she said the spell. So, Brittney and Molly use Mr.Molloy's 'mind-eraser' doll to erase his mind. And in the end they buried Slappy. But they didn't notice that his hand came out of the grave. show less

You may wonder why my best friend, Molly Molloy, and I were in the old graveyard late at night.
Molly and I sat in the backseat of my parents' car and talked all the way to HorrorLand.
