Two boys named George Beard and Harold Hutchins were pranksters, always getting into trouble. They finally got caught making trouble on video for pulling a prank at a football game, and the principle blackmailed them for personal favors, or he would show the video to the football team that their the ones that pulled the prank. Finally, George and Harold figured out how to hypnotized the principle to get their tape back so the football team would never know. They turned the principle into Captain Underpants, a superhero that was created by George and Harold in their comics. They stole the video while the principle was hypnotized so the football team would never know.

I liked the book because I think it would engage children.

I would teach show more the following vocabulary words: cupboard, secretary, Amok, hypnotize, and fiasco. I would tell students who Weird Al Yankovic is. I would ask students how they think George and Harold felt when they got busted. I would ask students what blackmail is. I would show students where Antarctica is after reading p. 43.

The boys had to overcome a challenge, so I would have students determine how they responded to that challenge. I would have students write about the sequence of events in the book. They would need to introduce the characters, use dialogue and details to develop events, and provide a conclusion.

I only have the first of the series. I picked it up at a garage sale. I don't have kids but dream about reading them bedtime stories when I do. I see us laughing so hard they'll never get to sleep. Oh come on! Who's not going to laugh at a principal that runs around in his underwear thinking he's a super hero?

This funny book tells the story of two trouble-making boys who draw and make these super hero comics and sell them at school. The super hero is Captain Underpants! Mr. Krupp the principal is out to get the boys until one day one of the boys hypnotizing him and makes him the super hero. After Mr. Krupp fights crime as the amazing Captain Underpants they do everything they can to turn him back to his mean old self.
6th greatest banned book in 2002. Exhibits insensiblities and unsuitable reading level by age group. and faunts disobeience. I always frown when I see students checking these books out. I really would not mind if they ever came back!
George and Harold are best friends and major troublemakers at their elementary school. After hypnotizing their principal, the greatest superhero "Captain Underpants" is born and ready to fight for justice!
