Wonderful small collection.
Made me discover people 2500+ years ago from a different culture were concern about the same big questions we are right now. Quite amazing.

Waddell frankly admits in her introduction that her metrical versions are based on the scholarly
English versions by Legge in his edition of the
Shih -king or Shi Ching (translated by Waley as the Book of Songs). Nowadays, Waddell would probably be considered as taking too many liberties to make her verses rhyme, but for those who like her style (I do), these are pleasant.
