The BLOOD RUNNERS trilogy is Rhyannon Byrd’s first series with Silhouette Nocturne, and let me tell you – it knocked my socks off! This trio of books delivers three separate romances with the backdrop of one major plot that arcs throughout the books, beginning in LAST WOLF STANDING, continuing with LAST WOLF HUNTING and culminating with LAST WOLF WATCHING.

While LAST WOLF WATCHING begins in the thick of action, the excitement grows with each chapter, until it reaches a fever pitch with some very unexpected events and a couple of plot twists that are guaranteed to keep readers on the edge of their seats. I am surprised I have any fingernails left after reading this nail-biter!

But even with all of the suspense, Ms. Byrd never once lets us forget that this is Brody and Michaela’s story. Their romance is definitely in the forefront throughout this book as this couple plays a very important role in the salvation of their friends, family, and the residents of Shadow Peak.

My heart absolutely ached for Brody’s pain, but his strength and manliness were never in doubt. No, he acted as many men might in real life, holding his fears and pain deep inside. It never even occurs to this mighty Blood Runner that sharing his past might help him overcome it, or that the act of sharing it would not turn those he cares for away from him in disgust.

Michaela is just the woman who can make him see otherwise. Not only does she eventually succeed in convincing him to share his feelings with her, but she also manages to convince him that things are perhaps not as they have always seemed to him. That revelation, combined with her love, heals him more surely than anything else could, and clears the way for their happy ending.

Those of you worried about the fact that LAST WOLF WATCHING is the last story in a trilogy needn’t fret. I understand that Rhyannon Byrd has ideas for a series of books that will be connected to the BLOOD RUNNERS tales and will star some of the most intriguing supporting characters from these books. I, for oen, will be waiting with bated breath for those stories! show less

Good finish to the Blood Runners series by Rhyannon Byrd. Hot, scrumptious, Alpha males and the women who pseudo-tame them!

Brody carried his scars on his face and body. Michaela carried hers inside. They were both afraid of opening themselves up to possible rejection.

Brody didn't know what it was about her...but damn, she smelled good! Unfortunately for him, now he had to tell her that the brother she knew was gone. He'd been attacked by a Rogue werewolf and would turn or die tomorrow night.

Michaela's only family is her brother. She'll do whatever she needs to protect him. Unfortunately, she can't protect him from this. And the shadowy Lycan trying to take over the pack is now targeting HER. The Blood Runner that volunteers to protect show more her is none other than the one who makes her hot and bothered...Brody.

Brody Carter is a Bloodrunner with tortured past. He bears mental and physical scars from his past and they keep him from having a real relationship with anyone. Unfortunately as soon as he meets Michaela he knows she is his destined mate. Now not only does he have to protect her from rogue wolves and a killer who is looming about but he also has to protect himself from falling in love with her.

This book had a little bit of a Beauty and the Beast feel to it (he is too scarred and messed up for the beautiful girl). Along with a really good conclusion to the rogue wolves and murderer arc, The Last Wolf Standing is my favorite book in this series so far!

He's big, bad and a werewolf, she's small psychic and attracted. Her brother was attacked and she's under threat. He decides to help her survive this guarding her. He's trying to resist her charms, she's trying to resist his.

It's a romance, it's pretty predictable but it's kinda fun. I'm getting a little bored with the small woman and huge man trope though.

Great werewolf series. I love the emotion and the characters that Rhyannon Byrd developed through the three books. I really wanted the series to continue.
