Ari is heading into adolescence and finding out who she is, or was, and is...as a replica of a woman who was murdered over a decade before. She is not unaware of the politics that swirl around her, just due to her existence. Justin is still struggling with the power plays that keep him apart from his family, and leave him on the edge of sanity.
As usual, this author throws you into the plot, with little explanations, but with plenty of character development and intrigue. I am looking forward to the third installment of this story.

An amazing amount of tension winds through the story of the childhood and early adolescence of Ari Emory’s replicate, with political and military ramifications for Cyteen and Union at stake.

This book is a follow up to Cyteen: The Betrayal, and was originally published in the same volume as it. The book would make little sense without having read Cyteen: The Betrayal first. Apart from that its a good book, and much more readable than the first. I think that's mostly because all the important scene setting is done and we can finally get on with things. That was my impression with the first book too -- the second half was better than the first.
