"Translated out of the Latin into English, this extremely rare item is in excellent condition (i.e. the print is very good, making it easy to read). The work is divided into five books, expanding on the second part of his famous Marrow of Divinity. Book one contains the definition of conscience. Book two deals with cases of conscience which concern the state of man. Book three expounds man's duty in general. Book four explains Ames' view concerning conscience and the duty of man towards God and book five treats of the duties of man towards his neighbor. For the Scottish Presbyterian view concerning these matters see Samuel Rutherford's amazing Free Disputation Against Pretended Liberty of Conscience." -- SWRB
