Once again, Haarsma gives us a unique entry into the young adult field with a true science fiction story. The second in the series, this book has a tighter plot than the first and continues to be wildly imaginative, though character development hasn't really progressed. As with the first book, my major gripe is with the dialogue, which is choppy and awkward. I find it hard to like the hero of the story, especially when he does some stupid things like he does here, and I think that some of the reactions from the childen in the book are hard to believe. Compared to all the young adult books I've been reading lately, this one seems to be targeted a bit more "young," and while I'd recommend this book for younger readers, it's not as show more compelling for adult readers as many other YA series are. show less
Good continuation

I am enjoying this series. The idea of being able to connect with a computer through mind power alone is fascinating.
JT is a kid with the weight of the world on his shoulders. He lost his parents before he was even born, and then found himself and his friends pretty much sold into slavery. He gets teased by other kids because he’s different and he suffers from self doubt. There’s something about JT that makes him special and unique but he doesn’t want to be that way, he just wants to be normal like everyone else so he sees it as a burden rather than a gift. JT starts to overcome his self doubt and uses his special abilities to make a real difference but not before making a big mistake.

I was really looking forward to reading “Betrayal on Orbis 2” after having read the first book in the” Softwire” series “Virus on Orbis 1”. I love show more anything to do with IT and I love science fiction. Science Fiction is a great way of escaping into another world where you don’t have to worry about what’s going on in the real one. These books have both and PJ Haarsma writes in such a way that I find once I pick it up, I can’t put it down. I’ve recommended Virus on Orbis 1 to a few people and they all seem to love it as much as I do.

Now I can’t wait for part 3!

Oh, and there's a great RPG game that goes along with this series at www.ringsoforbis.com that in addtion to being a lot of fun might inspire kids who don't read to get into the books.

Betrayal on Orbis 2 is the kind of outer space adventure that I loved in middle school. With non-stop excitement, rich world building, and lots of cool aliens and technology, this is a great book for science fiction fans and reluctant readers.

Read my entire review

This is the second book in a series, definitely read after you read the first book. Fortunately it was available as an ebook because I had to download this book late at night, right after finishing the first one. This takes the group of kids who arrived at Orbis 1 to the second year on Orbis 2. Each ring is different world with its own unique inhabitants and challenges. I will read the next two books this summer.
This is the second book in the soft wire series. johnny and his friends time on Orbise one is coming to an end. Johnny and his friends are wondering what lies for them on Orbise 2, but their gourinder has other plans for them and tries to sell them.
