I thought the advice on fashion and style was very interesting, albeit geared to those well endowed in the money department. However I thought that the advice about relationships was very antiquated, very antifeminist and very offensive. Apparently all women need to get married and have kids and also are not allowed to be gay. Oh and getting married is absolutely essential even if you get divorced, which you shouldn't do, because think of the children!! Also when women are in these heterosexual relationships with children guess who should give up their career? If you think it's the man, think again. Then again I would never take relationship or career advice from somebody who looks up to Maureen Dowd. Thankfully the book was very easy show more to skim and I mostly just glazed over the last several chapters. show less
While pitched slightly above my financial level this is an interesting book on life and living with some great advice. A book to give almost any woman around the 30 year mark. While some of it comes across as being a little patronising and some of the rest as a little general there's a lot of interesting advice to be found here as well. Everything from wedding gifts to shoes; from furnishing to picnics.
