Not even a good light read for the times I want to just zone out. Starts with way too many characters, guests at the Inn, not all of whom are relevant to the plot. Even tho many have quirks, I had trouble keeping clear what their relationships were. Laura ignores the apparent depression of her friend, Nora, who is apparently only in the story to provide a psychic warning, and spends time conversing with anyone else. While Laura busily reassures the inn owner (just after nagging her husband that they have to meet their plane), she never mentions the hidden agenda of the worker the owner relies on so much that she's written him in her will. Laura is a garden expert yet questions what a 'peduncle' is. She calls ferns a 'bog plant' (p.138) show more which it isn't. It is a wetland plant but not all wetlands are bogs.
Occasional lectures/essays on gardening are placed between chapters. Educational but odd to find here.
Giving this book away but not to anyone who'd assume I thought it was a good book. show less
