Description

Fiction. Mystery. HTML:Everything's coming up corpses....
Louise Eldridge is taking her popular television show, Gardening with Nature, on location to film a garden tour at the historic Litchfield Falls Inn. It's a weekend in the country that promises rest, relaxation, and some of New England's most beautiful gardens.
But the local grapevine whispers of warring lovers, botanical scams, academic scandal, and family finagling. The tension is so thick you can hardly cut it with a scythe. And show more then the uneasy group of assembled guests begin to meet with the most unfortunate of accidents.
Suddenly Louise suspects that someone is playing Grim Reaper in the Litchfield Falls paradise. How many more guests—including one nosy garden show host—are about to be cut down?

Not even a good light read for the times I want to just zone out. Starts with way too many characters, guests at the Inn, not all of whom are relevant to the plot. Even tho many have quirks, I had trouble keeping clear what their relationships were. Laura ignores the apparent depression of her friend, Nora, who is apparently only in the story to provide a psychic warning, and spends time conversing with anyone else. While Laura busily reassures the inn owner (just after nagging her husband that they have to meet their plane), she never mentions the hidden agenda of the worker the owner relies on so much that she's written him in her will. Laura is a garden expert yet questions what a 'peduncle' is. She calls ferns a 'bog plant' (p.138) show more which it isn't. It is a wetland plant but not all wetlands are bogs.
Occasional lectures/essays on gardening are placed between chapters. Educational but odd to find here.
Giving this book away but not to anyone who'd assume I thought it was a good book.
