I read this book to a group of 3rd graders and the boys could not get enough of the books, asking me many questions about Magic Johnson. But that exactly was kind of a problem. The illustrations were great, but the story had absolutely no information about MJ and what he did with his life and his carreer.
This book has neither biographical details, nor interesting stories about his life or the challenges he overcame. It offers no information about his accomplishments, his struggles, or anything of note. This book is elementary, a way of introducing young people to basketball to get them excited about it. I don't see it serving much purpose beyond that.
