The tenth novel in the Daughters of the Moon series is a departure from the regular storyline of Catty, Vanessa, Jimena, Tianna and Serena. Instead the story follows their mentor Maggie who is two thousand years old. She is an immortal who takes a potion at the full moon to restore her youth which is about to finally run out. She is due to pass on her role to another young woman (possibly one of the daughters?) and as her long life draws to a close she teels her story as a young woman in Athens called Penelope.
She lives with her father and sister Taemestra. Her mother disappeared one day and there are stories that Zeus is Penelope's real father. One day three men arrive to visit her father and go to war with him against the Spartans. show more One of them is called Hector and him and Penelope instantly have a connection. Her younger and more beautiful sister is jealous and sets events in motion Penelope never suspected. Penelope is torn between her love for Hector and her desire to take her vows to the moon goddess Selene. There are evil forces at work trying to prevent her from following her destiny which she isn't sure of herself.
I really enjoyed this and was interested to learn more about Maggie/Penelope and how she became immortal. I knew form previous books what happens to Hector and Chris, but it was good to have the gaps filled in and see how everyone got to their roles in the current storyline. I think I have guessed who her successor will be, but I defintiely feel there are more twists and turns for the story to take, especially to find out who Penelope's child will turn out to be... show less

It’s definitely interesting to see into Maggie’s back story. We get to see how everything started and it’s an interesting look into the past.
