Age Appropriateness: Primary
Genre: Just like in this book, many children have a bundle of good memories about snow days, making this book a good example of a realistic fiction. The reader gets an inside look at Hubie's snow day and can see that it is very similar to what children today experience. Along with a lot of humor, this book becomes a great realistic fiction because it tells a very believable story about a boy who doesn't like winter, which many children can relate with.
This book is a great read for young readers. It is easy to follow and a fun read!
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Critique: This is a good example of realistic fiction because of how the experiences that Hubie has on his snow day are the same as so many other kids. The events, like the snow ball fight and the hot chocolate and ghost stories, are all realistic.
This is a great story about a snow day. It reminds me of how much fun a snow day is when you don't have school!

About This Book
When a blizzard hits, Hubie knows that doesn't mean a snow day, it means a "no" day — nothing moves, nothing happens. After spending all afternoon zipping zippers, snapping snaps, and buckling buckles, he's finally ready to explore the winter wonderland. Can Hubie plow through his snow-venture or will he be left out in the cold?
