ISBN 0590436457 – Although I like the ties between the BSC series and the Little Sister series, I’m finding that the BSLS books are better the less they mention Kristy. I don’t know why that is, but it seems to be the pattern lately. Karen’s in Love is fun and funny, in part because these little kids seem to live in a world entirely of their own making.
Karen has been engaged to Ricky for a little while and Valentine’s Day is coming. The class is having a party and everything would be fine except for one thing: Pamela. Karen is sure, after Ricky is actually nice to Pamela at her birthday party, that he likes her more. What that means for Karen’s wedding plans, she doesn’t know. She’s not even sure what it means for show more Valentine’s Day! Will they make up? Will Ricky end up marrying Pamela?
I myself, once a kindergarten bride, don’t remember being quite as organized or motivated as Karen, which is why I look at her with awe and amusement. She’s a very real-seeming character and so are her friends. Except for their ability to throw together a wedding in 48 hours, which is beyond real and into wonder-kids! Martin’s ability to write for them and switch gears to write for her older series never ceases to astound me. RL 3, ages 7-9

Looking back, I realize how silly this book was but it's also freaking adorable.
