Each page is a self-contained story (long accounts like the Exodus are told in several successive stories), in language that is clear to children, yet true to the original. Each story is accompanied by an illustration, and most compelling, a sidebar of historical information. That historical information, the maps which are included, and the clear format, make it an excellent teaching tool, and a great way to interest children in the bible (for example, the page on Moses' discovery among the reeds points out that crocodiles were common in the Nile, and that leaving a baby there was a very risky thing to do.) A great, and informative, volume. (Melissa Trafton) no reviews | add a review
An exciting introduction to the world of the Bible to be enjoyed by both children and adults. This unique collection features stories from the Old and New Testament, retold in a lively style and brought to life by vivid illustrations. With the help of maps, photographs, and diagrams, the ancient worlds of the Bible are set in an easily understandable context. This set of inspirational stories is wonderful for the whole family and is designed especially to educate modern children. No library descriptions found. |
