As popular as the traditional English tale of St. George the knight and the slaying of the dragon might be, many young children have difficulty identifying with the original tale. There are no minorities in the original tale, and many children identify more with the naughty dragon. The timid mouse George is more easily identifiable to most young boys and girls. It also addresses children's self-esteem when a timid, small being can be the hero. I really like this telling as a read aloud.
good story, great pictures good size for class reading
