Not a bad book, but not really top tier "Fear Street" let alone a "Super Chiller" Fear Street. It didn't help that last night I started realizing there were way too many plot holes for me to ignore as well. And sadly, no murders or anything which makes me wonder how this got to be a "Super Chiller." It does answer some questions long-time readers would have about "Fear Street" and the fact that Shadyside is somewhere on the East Coast.
"Party Summer" follows a group of teens going to stay at one of their friend's aunt's lodge for the summer. Did you follow all of that? Cari is the main lead in this one and she's happy to be away from her family for the summer. However, as soon as she and her friends arrive at the Howling Lodge Inn things show more seem to be going wrong and the mysterious owner Simon Fear seems to be at the center of things.
So big cons for me were that Cari and Eric's romance was forced and it just didn't feel organic.
Jan actually got on my nerves. A lot.
Craig was whatever. Poor guy.
Don't get me started on the whole Aunt Rose thing. Like I said, no spoilers, but I realized later on that what one character did to throw people off made zero sense once we got another reveal.
It was nice to see things outside of Shadyside for once, but the plot just falls apart the more you keep reading. show less

Fast and fun. A bit predictable, but I have read an obnoxious amount of these books so I know what to look for when it comes to plot twists. I love hotel settings so that probably added to my enjoyment as well.

I have to say I really enjoyed this book. It was a lunch book and sometimes I found it hard to put down. I think tweens and teens would enjoy this creepy summer vacation story. It will keep them on the edge of their seats.
Possible spoiler alert:
Not another "The crazy guy is going to try to kill you" book! Yeah, so if the servant knew that the guy was so crazy, why didn't he just tell the kids what was going on and help everyone instead of trying to scare them? I also wasn't into the phony ghost hunting bit.

in a fit of nostalgia i bought a lot of about 30 of these books. great cheesy reading!
Amazing, mysterious, and thrilling! This is a good book!
