These really are as delightful, especially for the target audience, as the hype implies. I love how Humphrey helps everyone out - he's a bit like Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle in that way. I like the big lesson that everyone needs someone to listen to them, because everyone has their own dreams and their own challenges.
In this book, Humphrey, the class hamster, describes the events and adventures he has with his class. Humphrey tries to help some students with their problems, and worries about his friend the janitor, who may have been kidnapped by aliens. This was a very funny book, and seeing the world from a hamster's viewpoint was very interesting.
I liked this book. Second grade students would probably enjoy it a lot. The point of view was fun, and readers would enjoy trying to figure out some of Humphrey's mysteries. I am interested in reading the other books in the series as well.
While helping his classmates solve their problems, Humphrey, pet hamster of Longfellow School's Room 26, faces surprises, like rolling in a hamster ball, a substitute janitor who might be an alien, and the possibility of Mrs. Brisbane retiring. Book #4
Humphrey gets in trouble outside in his hamster ball! Another adorable chapter in Humphrey's life.
Hi guys, my book has a hamster named Humphrey. Humphrey had a problem, which is he thinks the real janitor got kidnapped by an alien. Humphrey thought the new janitor with the head phones is an alien. My funny part was at page 38. It had something to do with aliens. If you wanna read page 38 get the book. My second funny part was when Humphrey thought the janitor got kidnapped by aliens. Read and find out the ending. People that like hamsters would like this. This book is funny because Mrs. Wright blew the whistle in front of Humphrey and he thought he heard a big explosion in his cage. This reminded me of a alien movie I watched and a hamster movie.
Hey my name is Mildred and I read ''Surprises according To Humphrey''. The author's name is Betty G.Birney, and I think she wrote a very good book. The characters names are Humprey(which is a little brainy hamster),the students in room 26,Ms and Mr.Brisbanes,Ms.Wright,and of course,Aldo the janitor.Humphrey was a little hamster in room 26.Humphrey always tries to help his classmates. But since he's a little hamster,he dosen't know how to solve their problems.I liked the part when Ms.Wright blew her whistle in front of Humphrey's cage, and Humphrey said an explosion blasted near his cage.I think Humphrey's ears must've hurt a lot since he's a little hamster with sensitive ears. This reminds me at reeces when my teacher blows her loud show more whistle. What will happen next?Is Ms.Wright going to ban animals from school?Read to find out.I think you will like this book because in the middle it keeps on getting funnier, and Humphrey has a big alien problem. show less
