Darcy's Passions: Pride and Prejudice Retold Through His Eyes

by Regina Jeffers

Description

Witty, romantic and insightful, Darcy's Passions captures the original style and sardonic humor of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice while turning the entire story on its head. Written from the perspective of Fitzwilliam Darcy, this novel tells his version of an improbable, even obsessive relationship with a most impossible woman--Elizabeth Bennet. This novel reveals Darcy's passion and conviction but also his turmoil. Darcy knows that duty to family and estate demands he choose a woman of show more refined tastes. Yet, what his mind tells him to do and what his heart knows to be true tear him in opposite directions. He loves a woman he first denies for being unworthy, but it is he who is found wanting when Elizabeth Bennet refuses his proposal of marriage. Devastated, Darcy must search his soul and transform himself into the man she can love and respect. show less

I was skeptical at first when i picked this book up, because not many people can take over another author's story and rewrite it or sequel it well. Regina Jeffers did an amazing job. The flow of events with Pride and Prejudice was amazing. Her witting style was to me almost flawless there were only a few moments where i was jolted back to modern times with some of the quotes. All in All if you want a great insight into the mind of Fitzwilliam Darcy this is a great book to read.
Every so often I like to read a Not Good book. That is, I pick something that requires nothing of me, that's easy to read and easy to forget. Since I am an admitted lover of Jane Austen's work, I have an unfortunate addiction to all the assorted sequels, variations, and other fan fiction that finds its way into print. Most of it falls into the circle of Not Good.

This does not equal Bad. A Bad book is another creature entirely. I avoid Bad Books. I resist giving them my time.

One of the best retelling's of Pride and Prejudice out there thus far that i have read, while there are some continuity issues only a true lover of the original with pick up on, the insight and voice of Darcy is one everyone will enjoy
At 560 pages I felt this was a big long, the first 60% of the book took the tale to the engagement of Darcy and Elizabeth which was the more interesting part.
Not too sure that the awful character of Darcy at the beginning of the tale was able to change enough to be acceptable to Elizabeth, but he seemed to change overnight.
I found the post engagement part a bit too 'sweet' for me.
This is a lovely read. It starts off by retelling most of P & P and then goes 2 months into Darcy and Lizzy’s marriage. You can see how much they really love each other and some very funny parts. This is a small series by Regina Jeffers and I am looking forward to the next book.
I really loved this book. I always wondered what was going on in Darcy's head throughout the original novel. This book gives you that in a way that is faithful to the original but has its own flair too.
