This book is very unique from any other book I've read, though admittedly I haven't really delved into the transhumanist/post-modern genre thoroughly. I finished this in a day or two, and was really fascinated with some of the ideas propagated in the novel. It spans the life of an activist turned diplomat who witnesses (and influences) drastic changes in collective society, the creation and destruction of worlds, and indeed the complete transformation of the human species. It's really amazing how cutting edge these ideas seem, even 30 years later. This book is older than I am, and yet still seems fresh and relevant. ( )
