I really liked Chance and Isa, I kind of wished their story was longer. I would have like to get to know chance a bit better and find out if Isa ever becomes a vampire. ( )

I generally love Jeaniene Frost, but this short story was really... dull. Isabella has been blackmailed into marrying a mob boss after her little brother goes missing. Her grandmother just happens to have a history with Bones and calls him for help in getting her granddaughter out of trouble. Bones, in turn, sends vampire Chase to stop the wedding and find Isabella's brother. Chase immediately decides to prolong the job in order to get closer to Isabella. Mild chaos ensues.

Isabella was an interesting character, however due to the predicament she was in her character never really got to fully develop. Chase and the stereotypical members of the mob was where the story really got boring for me. I also did not enjoy how uneven things were. Chase is the only vampire in this situation and no one knows that vampires even exist except for the grandmother, so he pretty obviously had the upper-hand in every confrontation. This made the action scenes snooze-fests because Chase was never in any kind of danger. He sort of just waltzed in and out of the situation whenever he felt like it. In fact, he came off as a bit of a jerk for letting Isabella stew in her situation for the sole reason of having an excuse to hang around. This is one story I would recommend only to die-hard fans of Frost's Night Huntress series. ( )

Another short from the Night Huntress world, this one features a vampire, Chance, and other than a brief cameo by Bones, not many other recognizable characters. We do get little more information about Bones' very interesting back story though, and the romance, while feeling a bit rushed due to the length of the novella, was cute and rewarding.
