I loved this film, based on the novel of the same name by Henry James. A classic film titled The Heiress starring Olivia de Haviland was based on the same material, and the highest compliment I can pay to the film Washington Square and Jennifer Jason Leigh in Haviland's role is that I refuse to choose between them. Its hard for me to put my finger on the differences (Leigh's Catherine a bit more gauche I think), yet both seem distinct, yet both true to the original source. And both are very watchable and memorable.
