Evan Jones was born in Portland, Jamaica in 1927. He received a BA in English literature from Wadham College, Oxford in 1952. He taught at the George School in Pennsylvania and at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. In 1956, he moved to England and became a full-time writer. His television work includes the documentary drama series The Fight show more Against Slavery. His work as a screenwriter includes Funeral in Berlin, Eva, and Champions.
