I don't think that I've ever truly disliked a book by Gerri Hill and I liked this one quite a bit. Possibly because it was a mystery/thriller as well as a lesbian romance.
It's the story of Tori and Sam. Tori's a homicide detective and Sam has just transferred in and assigned to Tori as her new partner. Tori has gone through six previous partners and at the beginning of the book Tori is super super hard to get along with. Sam perseveres though, even though her personal life gets thrown into chaos, not to mention how her life gets put in danger too.
Of course, they also find themselves falling in love, and the question is, can they overcome each of their problems and issues and find love and happiness with the other. Not to mention, can show more they find the serial killer before he takes out someone close to the two detectives.
It was a complex mystery and for the most part I was kept guessing about what would happen re: the plot. show less

Hill definitely keeps me on the edge of my seat with her mystery/crime stories. The “I love you’s” from Sam were a little too soon, but I did not feel as if her feelings were unbelievable. I was not expecting an emotional trigger that occurred in the story, so be warned. Overall, this was an enjoyable read. Oh, and I agree with other reviewers, the ex-boyfriend was both irritating and a bit creepy. I wonder if he will show up in the other books.
Well written story of a senior homicide detective (Hunter) who is teamed up with the new woman detective in the squad. These are both strong, intelligent, brave women who fight a religious zealot serial killer of young lesbians. Engrossing story, and a lovely introduction to these two women, who become partners in more ways than one.
I really enjoyed this book - so much so that I have ordered the next two in the trilogy.
Tori and Sam are two homicide cops who have been paired together and are trying to catch a serial killer - as the body toll mounts so the two women have to break down barriers and form a real partnership.

This is one of the classics in lesfic. It was first published way back in 2005 when lesfic was still in its nascent stage and most writers were just crossing over from writing Xena fanfic to publishing independent books. A lot of books of that time are clearly Xena fanfic and Hunter’s Way is one of them.
