There is a new Little on the way. Despite an awful storm, Cousin Dinky and Aunt Lily set out in the glider in order to help Mrs. Little. But when the glider arrives, Dinky realizes that something is missing: Aunt Lily!
This is my first time reading a book in this series, so naturally I compared it with the Borrowers. I didn't like it quite as much- it was more adventure oriented, and less tuned to the more interesting details of being tiny.
In this book Cousin Dinky is bringing Aunt Lily to help deliver a baby during a snow storm. She ends up being taken captive by "ground littles" who are afraid of "tree littles" and have never even heard of "house littles," such as herself. She wins them over, the baby is delivered, and everyone is friends in the end.

Summary: When Aunt Lily gets lost in a flying accident on her way to help Mrs. Little deliver her baby, the Little family go to find her. It turns out that she was taken by a reclusive underground tiny family. After talking to the underground family for a while, Aunt Lily convinces them that the outside world is safe and that it is okay to trek back to the Little's house so that she can help deliver the baby.
Summary:
The Littles, which is a family of little people who are trying to find their beloved aunt. Aunt Lily is thrown out of the glider during a snowstorm as she was traveling to the Littles to help with the new baby's birth. The family searches for Aunt Lily and comes in contact with another family, the Specks, who were also miniature people.
Review:
This is a fantasy chapter book. It creates a unknown "the littles" world by imagination, which cannot appear in real life.
The pictures are done in pencils.
Comments on use:
Advanced reading level for elementary school students
Training students' imagination and they will enjoy the story

A new Little is on the way but the help gets lost and a rescue party sets out. New friends are discovered.
The Littles, who have tails and live in the walls of George Biggs house, were getting ready to bring a new member of the family into the world. In order to do this, Aunt Lily, who is a nurse, was going to come over to help, but a snowstorm caused a change in plans. Cousin Dinky, who flew a glider, was not willing to take the chance during the storm. But at 3am, the scheduled time for an emergency call between the Biggs house and the house where Dinky and Lily lived, came around, The Zigger's, in whose house Dinky and Lily lived, caught the phone off the hook. The miscommunication caused Dinky and Lily to believe that the baby was coming right away and it was an emergency! Lily convinced Dinky to leave right away. Flying in the storm was show more hard, and the wind blew them every which way. When Dinky finally landed at the Bigg's house, Lily was not in the plane. Dinky continued flying throughout the night trying to find Lily. He found her parachute, but no sign of her. In the morning, he went and alerted the Little's and the made a plan to rescue Lily. In the meantime, Lily had been caught by the ground tinies. The littles enlisted the help of their Tree Tiny friends, and together the safely got Lily, as well as made a new set of friends with the Ground Tinies, and the baby was born healthily. Review: This book is a good example of fantasy because the main characters are the Littles, which is a family of little people who are trying to find their beloved aunt. Aunt Lily is thrown out of the glider during a snowstorm as she was traveling to the Littles to help with the new baby's birth. The family searches for Aunt Lily and comes in contact with another family, the Specks, who were also miniature people. The story allows readers to be immersed in a believable world created away from reality.
Media: This is a good example of pencil media because the few illustrations in the book display wide ranges of different line sizes and shading to enhance pictures. The color is show more sepia-toned and mirrors the story’s realism and helps the readers visualize the text.
Characterization: Aunt Lily is a round character because she is thrown out of the glider and lost in the woods during a snowstorm. She was captured by other tiny people family, realizing that they live intensely different lives. She developed more fully through her encounter. show less
