A villain called The Dastard, who sold his soul for the power to erase past events, threatens Xanth's future by unmaking happy moments, forcing a young dragon-girl, Becka, to confront him and discover her own destiny, ultimately realizing the power of the human heart can overcome his evil. Becka, half-human and half-dragon, seeks her purpose from Good Magician Humfrey and learns she's destined to stop the Dastard, leading her on a journey to the magical realm of Ptero where she finds true magic.
The Xanth books by Piers Anthony were one of the first SciFi/Fantasy series I ever read. I love puns so I have always enjoyed them. Upon re-reading them I can see that they have some weaknesses but overall they stand the test of time. They are a fun and fast read that keeps me amused without any deep thinking required.
#24-- More adventures from the wonderful world of Xanth!!
"The Dastard is a vile, loathsome man with the power to travel back in time. He uses this to neutralize people's joyous moments and if this includes removing the existence of sentient beings, so be it. Despite this selfish, amoral attitude, The Dastard finds himself involved with a cross-Xanth adventure anyway, with a woman resistant to his methods. He runs up against the Sea Hag, who is equally as evil and powerful."
