I have a lot of respect for Henry's mom. In some ways I want to be her, with a big porch & yard & trees, and long dresses and bare feet - but I don't want a huge slobbery dog, thank you.
Henry and Mudge are so much fun to read about! Carefully crafted simplicity in the story telling as well as the illustrations. A great book for the beginning reader.
Henry gets a spy kit and he and Mudge go around spying. They find and crack a code by the garbage, and soon Henry is leaving and cracking codes every day. Eventually, he meets the other person leaving codes- another little boy with his dog. They start a spy club together.
