Finally read the first, and am impressed that this relatively weak entry spawned such a long series. I guess kids (and second-grade teachers) really needed Harry, Doug, and Song Lee.

Unfortunately this has a chapter about the First Thanksgiving that feeds all the stereotypes. Teachers and parents, *please* teach the books that are written by Natives about the invasions from Europe.
This seems like a good series of books for reluctant readers or first time chapter books readers in the 1st and 2nd grades. The characters are amusing and real-to-life, both charming and horrible at times. Harry's horribleness appeals to kids, though I can imagine that many readers will be able to see through his pranks and teasing to see that he is a good person inside.
Horrible Harry in Room 2B is one of the most hilarious books I've ever read. It is addicting and doesn't stop making you laugh. It is a book for all ages from 7 to 10. One of the parts that I thought was very good was when Harry makes stub people out of broken pencils. When he makes 24 of them he going to invade the class room
The book is very different and they aren't very long so you can read a lot of them like I did.
I think if you have a good sense of humor you should try one of these books out Your probably end up reading them all like me.
This is a hilarious book about a mischievous young boy named Harry. But even through his pranks and his teasing, the reader can tell Harry is actually a good person deep down. But, when a girl comes between Harry and his best friend Doug, Harry must learn the hard way to appreciate the relationships he has and to treat people better.
In this short chapter book, Horrible Harry's best friend Doug chronicles several of Harry's horrible adventures in 2nd grade. Ages 7-10.

I love Horrible Harry! He may be horrible, but he is never mean, and sometimes he is even nice. Made me smile to read about his antics (Doug certainly looks up to Harry), and I think kids will smile too.
I remember knowing someone like Harry when I was in elementary school that always liked to play mean tricks on people in my class, so this book was funny to me. Harry isn't a very nice kid though, but he Doug befriends him when he realizes his true intentions aren't really to hurt anyone.
Horrible Harry books are good for reluctant readers or first time chapter books readers. They are easy reads with lots of kid humor. After reading a Horrible Harry kids are ready to advance to other chapter books with confidence.
