Lobsters on the Agenda is a contemporary novel of the 1950s in a West Highland setting and retains a refreshing air of topicality. In a small fishing village various conflicts of interest and loyalty are examined and discussed at a number of community gatherings, both formal and informal, during the course of a single week. The author writes with the experience of years of living and working in the Highlands and the joy of this novel lies in her use of lilting dialogue and her understanding of human strengths and frailties.
