Description

Captures life among the families of the River Road Region. Spanning a time period that begins in 1839 through the long years after the Civil War, memories of the very real Roman family of Oak Alley Plantation and the Aimes of Le Petit Versailles are narrated by a fictional family friend. It is a glimpse into the events, customs and bits and pieces of plantation life along the Mississippi during an era aptly identified in Louisiana's history as The Golden Age--Back cover.

As promised, this is a series of vignettes, over the years, of well to do families living in the River Road region of Louisiana - based on factual research and narrated by a fictional family friend. Unfortunately, du to the circumstances of time and place, it proceeds as a litany of death and decline - a rather unappealing read.
