In this wordless companion to Sunshine, a little girl has dinner with her family, takes a bath, and prepares for bed: Mom combs her hair, and Dad reads her a story and kisses her goodnight. But the girl needs a glass of water and a hug from Mom...and then a hug from Dad, who falls asleep in her bed while she remains awake. The girl gets out of bed, puts on her slippers, and joins her mom in reading a book on the couch. Eventually, the two of them fall asleep, the dad wakes up and carries the girl back to bed, and he and the mom return to the couch and fall asleep together.

A perfect bedtime book. The trim size - same as Sunshine - is on the small side, with a landscape orientation to show sequential movement; there are as many as six show more panels on a single page. show less
Simply charming, but not the reason I fell in love with Ormerod's work. I hope mom and dad have some energy left at some point each week to pay attention to each other - this little girl is almost over-indulged.
This is the companion volume to Sunshine. A little girl goes off to bed and can't sleep. She joins her mother reading on the couch. The images are very thoughtful and peaceful. My daughter loved telling me this story when she was four.
The author Jan Ormerod has been awarded the ALA notable book award. Pre-k to 2nd grade would enjoy looking at the sequencing and routine of a family's daily evening. The illustrations are wonderful. The pictures in the book will guide the child through a daily evening routine. Older children may be able to enact/ create their own dialogue of what happens during their daily evening at home.
Moonlight by Jan Ormerod is a picture book. It is a great book to use for children to look at the pictures, and make up their own story about what they see going on in the illustrations. They can change the story up as many times as they like, and they can probably relate to the story as well. It is a story of a little girl that is eating dinner then she goes and takes her bath, and puts her pajamas on and gets in bed. When she gets in bed her dad reads her a story and tell her goodnight. She gets up numerous times before she goes to sleep to get a drink of water, love on her daddy who eventually falls asleep, and then she goes and reads a book with her mommy on the couch until the daddy wakes up and notices the two of them on the couch show more together and puts the little girl in bed. show less
Not for storytime, but for wordless/write your own story project. Just illustrations of a child's bedtime routine.
