Kate sets herself for major embarrassment when her fiance calls off the wedding the morning of the event. Mortified that her book launch will be ruined, Kate agrees when her friend Lucas suggests that he be her groom. Of course he is in love with Kate and over the course of their fake wedding, Kate discovers that actually she is in love with him as well, despite their differences. I especially liked the progression of Kate's character where she learns to be vulnerable and not try to control everything.
Kate Lawrence has almost everything ticked off on her checklist. A career she loves as an advice columnist, a new book poised to hit the bestseller list, and a picturesque wedding on Nantucket. The only problem is that five hours before the ceremony, Kate's fiance dumps her. Left with the prospect of the media circus when one of the nation's foremost relationship experts is jilted at the altar, Kate is relieved but surprised when Lucas Wright offers to stand in for the groom. Why would this man she barely knows make such an offer?

A fluffy gentle romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. Exactly the kind of book you'd expect from the description.
If we excuse this pretty horrible cover, this book is quite fun. It's a nice light read for sleepless nights as evidenced by the fact that I've read this on finals week for the past couple of years.

Tropes: widowed male lead, marriage of convience

Content: kissing, remembering loss of spouse

This is a wonderful read that tugs at my heartstrings even with a predictable plot. I like this second of the series better than book #1.

Really like this story!Lucas Wright was just a great guy, who is afraid to tell his new bride, Kate, he loves her, even though he did just agree to marry her 2 hours before the wedding. A carpenter and an marriage counselor who is jilted on the day of her wedding - what a great well-done story.

The red light on Kate Lawrence's cell phone blinked a staccato warning. But before she could retrieve the message, her maid of honor, Anna Doherty, waved her pale arms from the beach, stealing her attention.
