My daughter brought this book home for college. It was used as a textbook in her environmental science class. Very interesting and really makes you think about how much humans have affected the environment in just a couple of generations. There is a bit of a preachy tone that starts to grate after a while, but you can feel the author's passion and desperation to save this nearly extinct ecosystem. I learned a ton reading this book. I wish I could go back in time 150 years and see what the virgin prairie REALLY looked like!
