Peter Collingwood's The Techniques of Rug Weaving is the classic book on weaving. Originally published in 1969, it has been through nine editions. He has not published a book on rug weaving for over 20 years, but now, for this new book, he is returning to his first love, and drawing upon a wide range of new ideas and insights developed during the course of extensive lecturing and research. With concise instructions and explanatory diagrams, the author explores new techniques for plain weave, twill and block weaves. The three-end block weave is fully described, especially the application of it to shaft-switching. The samples illustrated have been specially woven for the book and photographed by David Cripps, who is renowned for his work in the craft field.
