Vengeance will be hers...
Briar is driven by only one thing: her need for vengeance on Gregor, the rogue vampire who turned her, then betrayed and brutalized her. To make that happen, she joins Reaper, himself a renegade vampire, and his gang of misfits, who are also on Gregor's trail.
A loner by nature, she tells herself she's only with them until she can destroy Gregor, and then she'll be show more gone. But she hadn't counted on the way the gang feels like family, the way they need her to complete their circle. And she definitely hasn't counted on the way Reaper, the charismatic vamp who holds them all together, needs her—much less the way she has come to need him.

This new series of vampire books by Maggie Shayne just are not doing it for me. The characters are poorly developed and the whole premise seems much more forced than in her previous Wings in the Night books. This one centers on Briar and Reaper, both broken souls looking to be mended and finding salvation in each other. The action is good and writing is engaging, but in the end, it left me wanting more from the characters themselves.

Briar is consumed by vengeance, she is determined to get her revenge on Gregor who tortured her and betrayed her, she joins Reaper and his group of vampires and allies who are determined to bring Gregor down, little does she know that she is going to find people to care about and who just might care about her.

Features kidnapping, psionics, microchips in peoples brains and nasty evil vampire moments, light but entertaining
A bit too much of the typical romance genre mixed in, but I did enjoy the characters and the story at the time I read it.
3 out of 5 stars. Good book -- however, since it was the last book in the series (so far) and this is the first book from the series that I've read it did become a little confusing but I was able to keep up with it for the most part. Definitely action packed!!

I know I enjoyed this book when I read, but it wasn't very memorable.
Much better than the book mark of the witch. Great plot strong storyline.
