Into hospitals or nursing homes, anyplace where people "who are sad, sick, or lonely" need cheering up, a Tibetan terrier brings comfort and joy. Rosie's reallife adventures make for one of the outstanding nonfiction titles of the year.
“Rosie” by Stephanie Calmenson is about a dog who becomes a service dog that is trained to visit with humans. This dog was active with humans of all ages and eventually was able to be a certified trained dog that would interact with people who were disabled to help brighten their spirits. This book brought so much hope, light and joy to people who might otherwise feel hopeless with their conditions.
Rosie is a dog who visits lonely and sick people to help them feel better. The children really can understand putting important things into perspective.
