The historical sketches are nice (Stewart is, after all, more a mathematics populist than textbook writer now); but this (fourth) edition is long-winded, slow, and perhaps a little boring. Nice exercises, though.

Glimrende lærebog i Galois-teori. Der er dog en grund til at der er kommet nyere udgaver.
Jeg havde Galois-teori i ca 1982 som valgfrit tredjeårsmodul og brugte præcis denne udgave.
