Writer is killed and dress shop owner wonders why she hasn't picked up new wardrobe. Meanwhile, a hit is placed on shop owner, who is daughter of police commissioner and whose mother was killed after mob figure was jailed. Good plot, kept me guessing.
Gossip columnist Ethel Lambston knew everything about everybody who was somebody---so there were more than enough suspects in her murder. But for Neeve Kearny, owner of an expensive Madison Avenue boutique, the killing of one of her best customers had eerie echoes of another death that occurred many years earlier---the murder of her own mother. Suddenly, Neeve is plunged into the mystery of Ethel Lambston's murder, following a trail that leads from the glittering pleasure palaces of New York's rich and beautiful to the Mafia underworld. In the tradition of Mary Higgins Clark's staggering bestsellers, Neeve Kearny is a woman determined to find the truth, caught in a swirl of money and romance---and stalked by a killer who's closer than show more she could ever dream... show less

A writer is murdered and her body hid in a local park. A boutique owner is concerned about her when she fails to show up for her appointment to pick up her new clothes. The boutique owner also happens to be the daughter of the retired police commissioner. This has other subplot built in as well. A crooked designer who uses undocumented aliens to keep his costs low. An ex-husband who has been paying alimony to the well selling author for over 20 years. Was an interesting read that keeps you guessing and pointing fingers to the end in regards to who was the killer.
