A retake on Rapunzel that involves dogs.

Rapunzel was in the form of a rap. The words were written like poetry, rhyming at the end of the lines. The author used descriptive and slang words, but that made the book more interesting. In this edition of Rapunzel, she was a dog. I overall really enjoyed reading this book. ( )

A modern, and sort of funny, twist on the classic tale of Rapunzel. The entire book is written as a rap and all of the characters are dogs. I see what the author was trying to do here, by appealing to a younger audience in a "cool" and "hip" way. However, I was not a huge fan of this version at all. This seemed more like a parody and I didn't find it funny at all. I did enjoy the illustrations, but that is about it. Maybe I will try reading to a child to see their reaction. ( )

The text is a bore to read, however the illustrations are somewhat entertaining. The book is a series of “bars” form a “rap”. For someone who loves poetry in all forms, this book is draining. ( )

This version of Rapunzel is very different from other stories of Rapunzel. The main character is a dog, who isn't a princess, but the daughter of two regular people from the "hood." Rapunzel is taken from them as a form of payment for Rapunzel's dad for wasting his ice cream cone on the witch. The entire book is written as a rap, and the book is styled as RAPunzel. The story is separated into 3 sections, the into and beginning of the story, Rapunzels life in the "tower," and her life after she leaves. Rapunzel is very conceited and spoiled and doesn't really complain about being held captive. You can't tell until more than halfway through the book, but its written in the point of view of Fine Prince. The story is plot driven. This particular story would be interesting to use when introducing fairytales to elementary school kids. The fact that the entire book is a rap makes it much more interesting and will probably keep the kids more involved. ( )
