This book is a perfect early reader chapter book. Students who want to read a chapter book or read a series may love this book about Fox discovering he needs a job and trying different jobs. I might ask my students to share experiences when they have had to try new things and explain what happened. This would be great in a 1st to 3rd grade classroom.
The age level is intermediate, grade 3
The book is about a fox that wants a new bike, but his mom tells him to get a job. He then tries out different jobs such as shoe salesman and pizza delivery guy. None of these jobs work until he finds a bed salesman and his job is to sleep in the display beds, which Fox is good at.
I would recommend this book for the age level it is at, the book contains very simple but foundational words that need to be practiced, along with being entertaining a child would like this book, but it is also useful in the classroom.

Charming little book about a fox who tries to earn money for a new bike. He comes up with several clever ways and different jobs. I also like how the story teaches children the message about responsible.
While not noted as such, I use this book as a Hi-Lo reader (as I can with many of James Marshall's stories). While the language is simple, the characters, decisions, problems, and feelings in the story are not. And Fox can be quite a character!

This book is suitable for ages 6-9. It is about the character, Fox, who tries to find a job in order to save up money to buy a bike. The book portrays how people need to take responsibility for their actions. It also shows how persistency and determination leads to success. This book can be used in a classroom in order to give students a sense of independence and confidence in their reading. This would be a great book to let students spend time reading on their own.
These are short, connected stories about a day in the life of Fox who is looking for a job because he ruined his bike. He can't seem to hold a job for more than a minute..until the end.
when fox breaks his bike, mom insisted that he get a job to pay for a new one. but his job at the shoe store is tooo much to handle, the amusement park job is too scary, and delivering pizza is a disaster.
