Surreal art poetry. Appropriate maybe for an art class, but not so much fun to read for young kids.
Excellent poetry beautifully rendered.
This is a poem book about summertime from the view of a little boy written in free verse. This story talks about the things this little boy encounters during his summer days. The illustrations play with the words using various shapes and colors. “Dinner is over. The grownups are talking”, is a verse I loved in this book because of the illustration. The pages that go along with these lines place the words over the dinner table, while the grownups are talking. Gabi took the words literally and illustrated them that way. This book is short but the pages are heavily detailed with figurative images.
This book is a poem that is also illustrated as a book. It is about summertime as it gets dark outside. The poem and the book talks about the things you would see, smell, and hear as it gets dark while the children are playing and then they all go home. This story teaches children about the rhythm and the rhythm of poetry.
