In my opinion, I think that this was a good book for two reasons. First, I liked the setting of the story a lot. This story takes place in an urban neighborhood. From the illustrations, it was clear to see some elements of an urban neighborhood. For example, there were plenty of markets and row homes illustrated in the background. I also liked the relationship between mother and son throughout the book. It was clear that Jonathan and his mom were very close. They would do different kinds of steps, such as itsy-bitsy baby steps or ballet steps, throughout the neighborhood together. They had a bond that went beyond the text. After reading this story, I found that the big idea was to appreciate the things you do with someone you love.
In this story, a young boy named Jonathan shares some of the things that he enjoys doing with his mother as they walk and talk throughout their city-including meeting some people and dancing along to their Reggae music.

Jonathan knows that he and his mother look silly as they goof around together, at times-but this story promotes how he is finding his own values (family) which may not conform to others' opinions.

This non-fiction book is about a little boy and his mommy doing things together that other people may find weird or silly. The whole book explains the day they have together and this could help explain that just because it's not what everyone else does, does not mean it is weird. They enjoy their time together even if its just being silly all day long. The message this book sends is that a mother and child may do things differently than other families, but they love each other no matter what.
This story was about Jonathan and his mother and what they do when they take a walk. It depicts the city where they live which seems to be a large city. They talk about the different kind of steps they take on their walk and the different things they see. By the end of the walk they are tired and walk back home. The story shows a multicultural aspect with the neighborhood shown in the illustrations as well as the family in the story. This book would be a great to show different types of neighborhoods and different areas as depicted with the city.
Jonathan and his mother walk around the city together and they walk in ways that only they understand. The two of them walk through the streets in many different ways and act as many different things and use their imaginations while exploring. Jonathan explains that many people do not understand what him and his mother are doing, yet he does not care because it is their special thing and they are doing it together.
