Beautifully photographed (it is a National Geographic publication, after all), with informative captions. This is a great book to give kids and teens a grasp of the scope and complex interconnectivity of the fauna in their environment.
I've had this book since it was published in 1979. I loved it then as a kid and I still love it. It's an invaluable reference for those interested in animals or creating art with an animal theme. It's a beautiful photography book with lots of good information!
Note:** National Geographic has a larger edition with the same title, but whereas this one has 197 pages, the larger edition (and there are a few) has 406 pages. I think the different books with the same title have caused confusion with the data entries.** Just a thought....
** For the record: I have the 1979 issue (406 pages); the 1995 issue (406 pages) and the 1998 issue (197 pages) **

Liked this book when young (before 1974)
