Looking back, this book would seem a bit over the top to an adult, but I was a preteen when reading this and had several younger siblings, so I found it really easy to relate to Mallory. And who wouldn't feel sorry for this kid, with seven little brothers and sisters who seem to take her for granted since she is the oldest child in the family (even her parents take her for granted, it seems)
Definitely a book for Mallory fans or those who felt like they could identify with her.
