This is the story of a Quaker man from England who makes a journey to and India in the midst of violence and massacres. Gilbert Parker was not only quite a famous Canadian novelist (knighted in 1902 for his service to Canadian literature), but a University lecturer, an Australian newsman, and a Politician (member of the British House of Commons).
