The Twilight Zone: The Odyssey of Flight 33

I checked this graphic novel out from my library in an attempt to find something for my son to read. I'm happy to say that he did pick it up and read it and thought it was okay (high praise from him). I read it as well and found that it does a fine job of retaining the feel of the original television series of the same name. A great quick read if you've got a half hour of leisure time to kill.

It's a great comic book, almost as good as the movies. It moves fast and is somewhat scary. I have always [liked] the Twilight Zone. Are there more than four? AHS/TF

A jet liner, en route from London to New York, is fifty-five minutes away from JFK International Airport. There is nothing special about this plane, the pilots, or the passengers; they are all simply attempting to reach their destination.

At 35,000 feet, something happens.

The plane begins to accelerate at an alarming rate. Most of the passengers fail to notice, but the crew has checked their instruments carefully, and there is no doubt that the plane is going over 3,000 knots. The pilots, fearing the passengers will become panicked, do everything they can to keep the plane level and structurally together.

Miraculously, the plane begins to decelerate; everyone is safe. But why can't the crew raise show more air traffic control from JFK? Why is the land mass that is supposed to be New York covered in water? These are questions that can only be answered in The Twilight Zone.

Once again, Mark Kneece has done a great job of adapting a Twilight Zone script into graphic novel format. The lines are clean, and the images are drawn well. The story is easy to follow and can be read quite quickly.
