Description

The new gymnastics teacher likes cats, brooms, and funny rhymes, that sounds awfully close to spells. Could Miss Brewbaker really be a witch?

A silly series that creates more questions than it answers. It's great for formulating theories as well as predictions. The class dynamics should be very familiar to those of the Magic School Bus generation.
Witches Don't Do Backflips is a lower grade level book. It would probably be good for readers from greades 2 or 3 up through 5 or 6 depending on their reading ability. This book should be a fairly compelling read to children with characters that they can likely relate to. The use of a wide range of vocabulary is great for students to expand their own vocabularies. If this were used in a class over a couple of lessons, it would present many moments to stop and discuss new vocabulary and strategies for making meaning of the new words. It is worth noting however, that the use of magic and discussion of witches may meet disapproval from some parents.
